Framework

The article that I chose for my paper is titled: “Tracing the local culture in a reading book”. I chose this topic because I can relate to learning another language from a book. Here is the breakdown of my framework: Main Point: It is harder to learn a language when you are also not learning the culture of the topic. Abstract: A language cannot be taught in a classroom without including the culture. Learning a language from a reading book is much harder without also learning the culture of the language. Some words and phrases depend on a person knowledge of the language. Introduction: Language and culture cannot be separated in a classroom. To learn the language of a course, a person has to know the culture. The goal is to combine the two. “ Therefore, there is need to look at the place of culture in the language classrooms, especially in the textbooks since they are regarded as the main sources of language teaching process, which makes them also the source for the c...

Fun Facts!

Here is a short list of fun facts that I think are pretty cool: - A single cloud can weight more than 1 million pounds. - The average person walks the equivalent of three times around the world in a lifetime. - You cannot snore and dream at the same time. - Coca-Cola would be green if coloring wasn’t added to it. - You burn more calories sleeping than you do watching television. - The average person spends 6 months of their lifetime waiting on a red light to turn green. - If you believe that you’re truly one in a million, there are still approximately 7,184 more people out there just like you. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas. 3.  Mix in the baking soda and salt. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract. Mix in the flour. 4.  Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. Bake fo...

Racism

A 50- something year old white woman arrived at her seat on a crowded flight and immediately didn't want the seat. The seat was next to a black man. Disgusted, the woman immediately summoned the flight attendant and demanded a new seat. The woman said "I cannot sit here next to this black man." The fight attendant said "Let me see if I can find another seat." After checking, the flight attendant returned and stated "Ma'am, there are no more seats in economy, but I will check with the captain and see if there is something in first class. " About 10 minutes went by and the flight attendant returned and stated "The captain has confirmed that there are no more seats in economy, but there is one in first class. It is our company policy to never move a person from economy to first class, but being that it would be some sort of scandal to force a person to sit next to an  UNPLEASANT  person, the captain agreed to make the switch to first class....
